2004 to present

    1. Presented a tailored version of ‘Managing Problem Loans’ for the Southern African Development Corporation – Development Finance Resource Centre
    2. Wrote module on "corporate governance in funds management and securities companies" for e-learning programme for Australian funds management and securities companies.
    3. Developed and presented a one-day training programme on the credit cycle for lending support staff of a major Australian trading bank.
    4. Successfully mediated restructuring negotiations between an Indonesian corporate borrower and an ADB-led banking syndicate.
    5. Wrote and presented a three-day seminar "Advanced Credit", presented on behalf of IFC and Banca Intesa to Nanjing City Commercial Bank (March 2004)
    6. Conducted an evaluation of progress achieved by His Majesty's Government of Nepal in implementing a privatisation programme in Nepal, on behalf of Asian Development Bank and (UK) Department for International Development (refer item 9 below) (February-March 2004).


August 2001 to 2003

    1. Undertook a due diligence review of a bank in the Pacific for the South Pacific Project facility of International Finance Corporation (June 2003).
    2. Developed, wrote and presented a one-day introduction to credit program for staff of a major Australian bank.
    3. Developed and presented the following training courses;

    5. Overcoming deceptive accounting & earnings manipulation (Singapore, March 2003)
    6. Corporate governance in Asia (Malaysia, January 2003)
    7. Wrote Corporate Finance module for securities industry training program for Hong Kong Securities Institute.
    8. Advised Singapore-based management consulting firm on establishment of problem loan management business in Indonesia & Malaysia
    9. Advised major Indonesian travel agency group on strengthening of financial management systems, controls & reporting
    10. Consultant to Asian Development Bank on privatisation of State-Owned Enterprises in Nepal
    11. Retained by Pannell Kerr Forster Consulting Pte. Ltd to provide advice on establishment of insolvency and turnaround management services in Indonesia, Malaysia & Singapore
    12. Consultant to Asian Development Bank on privatization of State Owned Enterprises in Nepal' The project involved advising ADB on institutional capacity for implementation of privatisation and on strengthening of privatisation agency, and reviewing the status of enterprises to be included in privatisation programme.

PRC Rural Credit Cooperatives

Institution Strengthening

Client: Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID)

Counterpart: Peoples' Bank of China

Description: A colleague & I were the two prime contractors on a complex project which involved:

    1. Developing a draft credit manual for rural credit cooperatives (RCCs)
    2. Assisting the RCCs' Credit Risk Management (CRM) team to finalize the manual for implementation
    3. Prepare and present an initial training seminar (presented for a Chinese-speaking audience through interpreters), explaining the processes and concepts in our draft manual
    4. Prepare a credit training program for the RCCs and train credit trainers who, in turn, will train the 1,050,000 employees of the RCC movement.
    5. With a colleague, designed and ran a two week study tour to Australia for the Peoples' Bank of China, to help strengthen prudential regulation of Rural Credit Cooperatives.

June 2000 – January 2001

Mediator, non-performing Indonesian corporate loans

Client: US Agency for International Development (USAID)

Counterpart: Jakarta Initiative Task Force

This project required me to serve as a Mediator ("Senior Financial Adviser") for a portfolio of Indonesian non-performing loans. The loans for which I was responsible ranged from about USD100 million to USD1.2 billion, and a wide range of lenders, including local and international banks and other non-bank financial intermediaries
